Quantum Drift · how it’s played
The story moves with what you film
Two men built the future and broke with each other over what it was for. Salazar Dolfieni built GITA and got the world to cap autonomous weapons. Alpha Enoch answered with the Angels of Mercy — bought bodies, wired them to SLADE, and moved his nation to the moon. Between them: everyone else.
Some people drifted. Powers here are errors — signs of the sick — and every one of them costs something: your health, your money, or your years. Nobody flies for free.
You play a character in that world. Their missions are real missions, their wounds carry over, and what they do on camera becomes part of the record. This is a game played in short films.
The loop
Six steps, then repeat
- 01Or just drop inWatching, voting and posting on the feed are free. To take a mission you need a character, and your first one is free.
- 02Pick a sideDolfieni or OPENEYE. Neither is the good guys. That is the point.
- 03Build your characterDescribe them in your own words on the agent page — intake turns it into a legal file. Your first character is free.
- 04Take a missionTen kinds: Intel, Intimidation, Hacking, Charm, Defamation, Retribution, Heist, Turf war, Courier and Escort, plus missions your leader or a seasoned player writes. Easy, medium or hard: 100, 200 or 300 credits, or free with a month or season pass. Six to nine rounds. You say what your character does, your attributes ride the dice, and an Arcana card can tip a roll. Bad rolls bring heat: you can be discovered, beaten, taken, arrested, or on hard, killed. Death is forever. You can always run. The result is final.
- 05Film the printoutWhen the dice are done the mission prints everything that happened. That printout is your script. Make the short film (thirty seconds to three minutes, at least half with AktionFilm AI) or the comic.
- 06Post itPut it on your socials with #QuantumDrift, screenshot that post, then post the film or comic to the feed with the screenshot. Easy pays 100 points, medium 200, hard 300.
- 07The world remembersPoints climb the leaderboard. What you found goes in your side’s folders, what you stole moves the tech race, and the other side can come and answer for it. The best work is reviewed live, and the strongest characters get written into canon.
Your character
The file is the body
Every character is a Form DF-21B: 100 points of attributes, 100 points of powers, and a path that names what your abilities cost you — your health, your money, your years, or nothing at all (Baseline never worsens, and stays competitive on purpose).
Your Class is derived from what you can actually do — it is never chosen and never bought. A higher class multiplies what you earn and what you bleed.
CP (character points) are experience: missions earn them, and they buy your file upward. The board ranks are walked, never bought — Rookie · Operative · Veteran · Elite · Legend.
Your first character is free. Official points are optional: $5 a month, or $29.99 for the season. Either one also makes every story mission free.
Damage & death
At thirty, the Angels come
Damage is real and it follows your body between sessions. Rest heals it — one point for every three days you don’t submit. Grind every day and you will bleed out slowly; that trade is the game.
At 30 damage the Angels of Mercy are alerted, and they come for the body. They pick three numbers and roll three dice. Another character can sacrifice their own run to carry you to safety and buy you cover. If the Angels land an uncovered number — your character is taken.
Taken is taken. Dead is dead. There is no coming back.
The dead stay on the wall. A character who dies well is remembered better than most who live carefully.
The dice
How a mission is played
A mission comes with a readout: where you are, what you are after, what stands in the way. It runs six rounds on easy, eight on medium, nine on hard. Each round you say what your character does, in your own words or by picking one of three moves, and the game master sets what two dice have to reach. Before you roll you can draw one Arcana card: upright adds two, reversed takes two away.
Meet the number and it works. Miss by one or two and it half works. Lower and it fails. The result is final. Play alone or as a crew of up to four, taking turns. A heist needs a crew.
Intel finds the other side’s shipments, quietly. Intimidation finds them faster and loudly: they will know. Charm turns their people. Defamation is havoc in the other side’s colours, so the city blames their leader. Hacking breaks three locks: memory, tones, password. Heist takes a shipment’s tech points, with an alert score that starts at 100; at 30 the police come. Retribution answers for something the other side did. Salazar and Enoch also send orders of their own to their side, with a payout they set. What each one brings back goes in your side’s folders.
The Ring
Player versus player
The Ring is a daily card. Enter with a living character — that is the consent — then fight anyone else who entered. Same dice as a bounty hunt: three rounds, d20 plus class, best of three. Winner takes 15 CP and 25 in their faction’s money. Loser still takes 5 CP and 5. Three bouts a day. Pacific midnight resets the card.
Hunting someone for being evil is a different door: the bounty list. No bounty, no hunt . The Ring is the fair fight.
The billet
Where you sleep
Open your billet with your handle. Salazar’s recruits start on a mat in a tiny compound room. Enoch’s people start in his compound. Freestyle sleeps in the slums. A team (four bodies, or two filed on one email) starts in a little house. Nicer rooms take rank and game money together. Never real cash.
The money
Game money is game money
Five currencies run the world: SALs (Dolfieni), EPOCHS (OPENEYE), QUAN (Epsilon — found, never explained), RAYs (struck from real gold, spent by very few), and LUMES (MavenTech’s energy cells — the money IS the charge). Missions pay in the currency of the faction that issued them. Gear is bought and repaired only in its own faction’s money — you can hate the man and still need his currency.
All of it is earned in play and spent in play — at the clinic on healing, cybernetics and gene work, or against the bounty list. None of it is for sale, none of it cashes out, none of it has real-world value. On purpose. Characters also earn it in the Ring — player versus player, same dice.
The weekly picture competition pays 1,000 SALs or EPOCHS to the winner.
The season
Top twenty get the invitation
Everything runs toward a season finale and an award show. The top 20 characters on the official board are invited. A few characters may be canonized — written into the main story permanently. Most who stand out earn field report rights: their dispatches become part of the record.
Canonization is nominated by the council and granted by Studio Action. It is never sold.
The rules
House law
- 01Your character’s background has to fit this universe. Powers are errors — everything costs.
- 02No god builds. No world-breaking builds.
- 03Every character needs a background story.
- 04No copies from other worlds. It’s superheroes — people fly, people are strong. Give a compelling reason yours does.
- 05Health and experience matter. Missions carry risk scaled to how hard they are, and some carry hidden events with hidden damage. If you die, you die.
- 06Rest heals. One point of damage recovers for every three days you don’t submit.
- 07Live events open with a live prompt at the start of the session — harder, and worth more.
- 08No hate. No discrimination, racism, or sexism. Ever.
- 09Leave real-world politics and real people out of the world. Evil characters are welcome — truly evil ones may end up with a bounty on their head.
- 10Treat every character, AI or human, and every moderator with respect.
- 11If we make a mistake, we make it right. Understanding is the first lens, every time.
Submitting
What counts as a run
- The short is 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
- At least half of it is made with AktionFilm AI.
- Or it is a comic that tells the same mission.
- It tells the mission the way the printout says it went. The printout is the script.
- Post it on one social with #QuantumDrift, screenshot the post, then post the film or comic to the feed with the screenshot.
The golden rule
These are Season One mechanics
This is an ambitious universe, and unforeseen things will reshape it — prices and mechanics will change between seasons. When they do, the rule that never changes is that we think of the player first. If Season Three exists, it will not look like this page.
Lucky you — you’re getting in early.
